T minus 20 days before we fly to Taiwan. We have just one more preparation meeting coming up and a lot of preparation work still to be done before we leave.
Teaching
I will be teaching 5 lessons to the 4th to 6th grade children who signed up for VBS with the local church. Uncle Sam has already done the hard work of preparing the powerpoints so I just need to practice teaching the lessons using the slides. Yesterday, I practiced two of the lessons with Uncle Sam and Auntie Judy and was woefully unprepared for one of them. It was a good reminder that I need to be more diligent in my preparation and that I need to pray more instead of procrastinating by playing with Rust or Super Smash Bros.
Fortunately, God knows I need more practice and He has provided the opportunity for me to practice teaching the parable of the prodigal son to the children at our church on June 22nd. Teaching is a scary proposition and I pray that I may teach the truth and nothing but the truth.
Cramming Chinese
After listening to two Mandarin children’s songs several hundred times, I think I’ve finally been able to memorize them. However, I still need to memorize the books of the Bible and the Bible verses in Mandarin. It is a daunting task but by God’s grace I have to believe it is possible. Sorry for not paying attention in Chinese school Mom.
Other Updates
God is good and has provided the necessary transportation and housing arrangements for us when we get to Taiwan. Our field coordinator is with our Mongolia short term mission trip right now and will be meeting with us next weekend when she gets back.
Prayer Requests
- For God and the Holy Spirit to guide me in preparing for the five lessons I will be teaching.
- For good health for myself and the team to allow us to serve with all our energy.
